Video of the Day: How to Use Facebook and Twitter to Stalk Your College Age Children, The ONN

I love The Onion News Network so much.  The following is a very informative video designed to help parents stalk their college age son or daughter.  Watch below:

Sorry college kids if you parents employ these tactics because they saw this video here.  My bad.

Snopes.com Is My New Addiction

If you’ve followed this blog at all since I created it during the heat of the election last October, then you I’m all about a good gimmick.  Any little website or blog that has even a remotely interesting subject matter draws me in for the long haul.  My latest discovery: Snopes.com

For those not familiar with Snopes, it takes rumors from the internet and real world and either confirms, debunks, or “unsures” (not a word) it.  It’s kind of like Mythbusters on demand since it’s updated constantly everytime time a new rumor or chain message circulates around the internet.  I spent 1 hour in my off time today browsing through it’s many categories and I decided I just had to share it with my loyal following.  I’m considering starting back up more of the daily posts and adding a “Rumor has it..” (Snopes’s tagline) to the lineup for your viewing pleasure.

Check out Snopes.com by clicking here.

Have you ever visited Snopes?  What’s your favorite website; other than this one of course?  Leave your comments below or send an e-mail to theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Don’t forget to bookmark The Conservative Journal and sign up for the RSS Feed and the daily e-mail newsletter.

Video of the Day: The National Debt Road Trip

I saw this video on YouTube and I thought it provided a great illustration of just how much we are going to spend over the next few years.  I think it really puts into perspective the way we’re going is not the solution.  Here’s the video:

TCJ Honorary Plaque of Fail: FreeCreditReport.com

Apparently I’m the last one to figure this out, but that’s the norm these days.

NEWSFLASH:

FreeCreditReport.com is not free.  In fact it costs $15 a month.  The company behind the service is now forced to alter there catchy commericals due to the recent crackdown on the credit card and credit industries.  Suppliers of these “free” services now have to inlcude “This is not the free credit report provided for by Federal law” in all tv and radio advertisements.  They must also now inform consumers that the only free credit report service is AnnualCreditReport.com.

I’ve never been in search of a credit report service, but it’s a real shame that people didn’t do further investigating when looking for a free report.  If they hadn’t been drawn in by FreeCreditReport.com’s catchy jingles, they could have easily found the free alternative.  So for catchy jingles, FreeCreditReport.com gets a thumbs up.  But for scamming consumers out of millions, two big thumbs down.

FreeCreditReport.com, The Conservative Journal honors you with the “Honorary Plaque of Fail” because you’re going to have a heck of time developing a well written jingle that includes “15 Dollar a Month credit report dot com” and “This is not the free credit report provided for by Federal law”.  Best of luck.

What do you think of this services trickery?  How long have you known about this?  Longer than I have, I assure you.  Leave your comments below or send an e-mail to theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Don’t forget to bookmark The Conservative Journal and sign up for the RSS Feed and the daily e-mail newsletter.

TCJ Honorary Plaque of Fail: Joe”I Have A Top Secret Bunker In My Basement!” Biden

Joe Biden swapping secrets with his waitor at dinner last week.

Joe Biden swapping secrets with his waitor at dinner last week.

Man, that Joe Biden is a card.  He just can’t seem to get it right, can he?  Joe’s been known for his gaffes over the years; in fact, there are several lists of them circulating around the interweb.  And while I usually think they are hilarious and innocent, this one’s got me a little worried about ole Joel.

Apparently, Joe told a group of friends he was having dinner with about the bunker, which held former Vice President Dick Cheney during and after 9/11.  The bunker is supposed to be top secret to ensure the safety of the VP should anything happen to the president.  Well of course, Joe couldn’t handle a little secret and now the world knows where he’ll be if the U.S. should face a 9/11-like attack in the future.  If his blunder results in the relocation of the secret hideout, it’ll be a real shame considering that in 2002 the bunker was apparently fixed up with the latest epuipment to sustain the VP and his staff after officials saw that it was not fully prepared to handle a crisis situation like 9/11.  Of course, Barack was not at all happy about this incident.  I don’t agree with anything he says, but at least he’s got enough sense not to leak top secret information.

Surely Joe can learn to keep his mouth shut before he leaks something even MORE secret than TOP secret.  But look on the bright side: Unless the people running top secret government stuff have learned their lessons, we can sit tight until Joe is briefed on the happenings at Area 51!  We’re surely in for a treat when he spills that.  And until then, I am honored to present Vice President Joe Biden with The Conservative Journal Honorary Plaque of Fail.

What do you think of Joe’s spilling the beans?  Leave your comments below or send an e-mail to theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Don’t forget to bookmark The Conservative Journal and sign up for the RSS Feed and the daily e-mail newsletter.

Video of the Day: Wanda Sykes at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Here’s the (in)famous video of Wanda Sykes at the White House Corresdponents’ Dinner.  As far as the outrage over it, I don’t think it was quite as bad as some are making it out to be.  Or at least, the part people are making a big deal about isn’t the part that bothers me the most.  The “I hope his kidneys fail” line was funny to me because I know she isn’t really wishing death on Rush Limbaugh.  The terrorist line was just not funny or acceptable.  There’s too much else to make fun of other than 9/11.  Here’s the video:

Video of the Day: Barack’s (Or His Writers) Got Jokes!

I was in the car today driving to see my family for Mother’s Day and I heard on on the FOX News radio channel on XM several clips from Barack’s epic speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.  I just found the full clip, and I must say Barack’s funny here.  I realize he more than likely didn’t write any of it, but he delivered it well and at least he’s not above picking fun at his incessant use of the teleprompter.  It’s a great watch and definitely worth the 17 minutes of your life it will consume.  Here is the full speech:

Video of the Day: “Blame It”, Barack Obama Style

Sorry again for such little posting over the past week; it wasn’t a tough few days!  Everything should be back to normal now.

Here’s a funny video that Totally Sketch made.  It’s a remake of Jamie Foxx’ latest song “Blame It”.  Once again, their ability to find actors that are perfect for the characters is amazing.

Parks and Recreation “Boys’ Club” Recap, Review, and Video

Recap

In tonight’s opening scenes, Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Tom (Aziz Ansari) are called out to a hiking trail because of complaints that teenagers are taking dog poop out of the trash and having a war.  When they arrive at the scene of the crime, Tom immediately bails to go sit in the car.  Leslie, however, is diligent in her efforts and ventures out into the poop field.  She uses the trash can lid has a shield as the teens continue to pelt her with bags of dog poop.  After a little bit of a struggle, Leslie concedes that poop wars are actually “rather fun”, and then procedes to throw a little poop herself.  The opening credits role and the fourth episode of ‘Parks and Recreation’ is underway!

At the start of the episode, the Parks Department staff recieves a nice gift basket from a local construction company.  As Tom and another staff member are splitting up the contents, Leslie quickly enters to tell them that for “corruption purposes” they can’t except gifts over $25.  That’s also the reason, she says, that she goes to two towns over to rent movies with nudity in them.  Tom says that he would never use his government power to cheat the system, though the video playing of him getting a free hot dog for “park business” seems to show otherwise.

Leslie unveils the social network profile she set up the for the pit project, and it already has several friends.  One of which is Mark (Paul Schneider).  They look at his profile only to find several picture of Mark and various women that they have never seen.  Leslie suggests they could be relatives, which Ann (Rashida Jones) quickly shoots down.  “Right, maybe fake boobs run in his family,” says Ann.

Leslie and Ann decide to barge in on the meeting of the “boys’ club” meeting that’s going on outside.  While she’s chatting with the guys, she leans and the table which knocks it over and breaks several beer bottles.  “You hear that?  That’s the sound of a glass ceiling being shattered,” says Leslie.  When they run out of beer and everyone wants to leave, Leslie is determined to keep the “good feelings alive”.  She heads and said looking frantically for more beer when she sees the gift basket she confiscated earlier.  There are 3 bottles of wine inside, and she decides keeping the party going is worth being corrupt.

The following morning, Leslie is very disappointed in herself.  So disappointed, in fact, that she decides she must apologize to EVERY female politician (in alphabetical order) because she “let them down”.  She also must confess to the office that she opened the basket.  She also confess to Ron (Nick Offerman).  Ron, of course, tries to convince her not to worry about it and blow it all out of proportions.  “No Ron, I will this IN proportion…  This may not be a big deal to you, but you’re a white protestant man with a full, rich mustache.  I’m a woman and I must hold myself to a higher standard.”  Again, Ron explains that she is punishing herself more than anyone else would.  However, she is persistent.  She then e-mailed everyone in the Pawnee government a confession, but not without a link to the pit’s webpage.

The next morning, Leslie discovers that April (Aubrey Plaza), the 19 year old intern, put a video of herself on the pit’s website.  The video contained footage of April seeing what would make her drunker: Wine or spinning around in a chair.  Now that all of the government in Pawnee had seen the video, Leslie has to attend a disciplinary hearing.

To prepare for the hearing, Tom asks Leslie some practice questions.  All of the questions are completely irrelevant to the hearing, but Leslie answers anyway to the best of her ability.  “Have you ever had a sexual fantasy about our boss Ron Swanson?” is one of my personal favorites.  At the real hearing, Leslie has prepared a full essay-like speech to let the committee know exactly what happened.  The lead committee member points out during the little speech that drinking on government property is prohibited in any instance, but Ron says that’s not his department, so they continue.  While this going on, Andy (Chris Pratt) is still working on ways to please Ann while she is at work.  He decides to bathe himself in the front yard in a kiddie pool.  While he’s bathing, the neighbor steals his boombox, which prompts him to chase him down the street naked.

Back at the hearing, Ron and his government-hating self is starting to get frustrated with the intense questioning.  “This is not communist China!  You cannot make her whip herself, you cannot make her wear a hair-shirt.  You wanna live in North Korea, live in North Korea.  This is America!”  Ron continues his little rant and declares the hearing over.  Ron says he took up for Leslie only because he hates bureaucracy and his ideal government is “one guy in a small room.  The only decision he gets to make is who to nuke.”

Leslie reveals to Ann that she opened the gift basket for a guy, Mark.  She tells her of the affair they had in February…. 2004.  In the end, everything ends happily:  Ann is pleased with Andy’s cleaning, and Leslie learns that getting a letter in her file isn’t all bad; Mark says she’s now a member of the “boys’ club.”

Review

Tonight’s episode was hilarious!  One of the highlight’s of the season so far for me was Ron’s little rant during the disciplinary hearing.  I think he’s got tons of potential to be hilarious.  Tonight’s episode also avoided the spots of boring that have been in each episode so far, though they have never been a huge deal.  Tonight’s episode of ‘P&R’ was one of my favorite shows I’ve watched all week!

DUmmies Exposed: Bipartisanship Means Follow Barack

Democratic DUmmies from the DUmp

I found this in the DUmmy thread over at Conservative Underground.  In the eyes of this moonbat, bipartisanship cooperation means meeting the Democrats “halfway” at 70-30, meaning 70% what the Dems want and 30% what Republicans want.  When people seriously think that is the case, there is real problem.  Here is the original post, though vulgarities have been edited for this site:

The Republicans need to understand what bipartisanship means in the Age of Obama.
Edited on Mon Apr-27-09 05:29 PM by Drunken Irishman
It’s not the middle. The American people have rebuked the Republican ideology in two elections now and don’t want to go back to it for the foreseeable future. So when Eric Cantor and others talk about bipartisanship, they must realize the ideological shift that accompanied this country with the election of the Democrats in 2006 and Pres. Obama in 2008.

That means bipartisanship begins left of center. Obama’s stimuls is what the American people voted for, not the same old failed policies of the Bush era. If they want to compromise with Pres. Obama, they have got to realize that compromise comes on his terms, not theirs. That’s what the American people want and that’s what they’re going to get, no matter how much Republicans complain.

So sorry, Mr. Cantor, bipartisanship means you actually have to meet the President at no worse than 70-30, because that’s the political climate facing this country. If you can’t accept that, then maybe you should find out why the American people continue to reject Republican ideals and fix it to the point where you can get back into power.

And if you can’t do that, then just sit down and shut the f*** up.

Here’s another “open-minded” liberal:

1. They have two options
1. Negotiate from a position of weakness and get whatever they can scratch out
2. Be shut out of the process altogether.

That’s one of my favorite hypocracies fromt he left; that they are the “open-minded” political.  Their open-mindedness stops at the party line.  Here’s yet another:

4. And that’s why the Republicans are out of power.
They’re tone deaf, I swear.

Americans have buried Reagan and all he stood for with the election of Barack Obama.

Maybe that’s it. Maybe they can’t get over that Obama killed their hero.

haha, I love it!

That would make more sense if the election results were split 70/30, but thankfully they were not.  Bipartisan cooperation is an equal effort on both sides, or at least something a lot closer than 70/30.  I’m sure that in a few years when Republicans are back in power as the Democrats are now these people’s views will be much, much different.

What do you think of this liberal nonsense?  Leave your comments below or send an e-mail to theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Also, don’t forget to sign up for The Conservative Journal RSS Feed here and the daily e-mail newsletter here.
