UPDATE: Glenn Beck’s Refound America Campaign, “New Republic: America’s Future” Details

On Glenn’s show today he went back over the fine details of the “Refound America” project, which will ulimately result in quarantining and eliminating corruption in politics.  Here are the details:

Notable Quotes

  • “All we need is 56 men and women who are willing to put country over self, put the republica over their party, free our government from rabid corruption and the special interests and to protect the republic,” said Beck
  • “If you’re part of corruption, I’m hear to tell you, you’re going to have to pay a penatly.
  • “If you just help save the republic from the disease that is corruption, these people [American] will get behind you.”

For those in Washington (Congressmen and women):

This the really cool part.  The lucky 56 men and women in Congress that get to help “refound america” will get to be taken into the upper floors of the Fox News office in Downtown Manhattan.  He or she will then be ushered into a room lined with bookshelves and then given the opportunity to share their story.  For congressmen and women that do not wish to be known, they can fully disguise their face and voice so it’s like a cool undercover interview.  Definitely awesome.

Glenn Beck: “We have to refound America!”- His Solution to Fix the Decline of Our Government

To read the update on the “Refound America” project, click here.

A few short minutes ago, Glenn Beck let us all know what he thinks is necessary to save America: refound it.  Using theswine flu impact graphic, Glenn showed us that corruption starts in Washington and spreads with every move the government makes.  When Congress signs over stimulus money, the corruption leaks down to the pet projects and the congressmen and women presiding over them.  From their, corruption gets into the system at the local level, and that’s where we are today: extremely and overwhelmingly corrupt.  To fix it, Glenn says we have to “quarantine corruption in Washington”, by not allowing anything in or out, and imposing a hold on all legislation until we sort through this.

After comparing our future to present-day Mexico, Glenn said we simply need 56 “refounders”; Congressmen and women that will start with their own party and work through the muck of corruption.  Not Republicans that say “Oh, the Democrats are worse”, or Democrats that say “The Republicans are wingnuts”, but American Patriots.

The refounding plan will be detailed more on the Monday “Glenn Beck Program” episode, including how Congressmen and women can jump on the refouding bandwagon.  I’ll have more details as they become available.

Hey, Maybe If Students Hear it From Barack They’ll Listen?- A Conservative In Favor of Barack’s Speech

Barack to School!

Barack to School!

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been avoiding the issue of Barack’s big speech to school across the nation.  Why you ask?  Well, I’m not in school, nor do I have kids who are, so it really just isn’t high on my priorities.  Today, however, I did find time to read (skim) the transcript.  I mean, I had to; it is the most controversial speech since the last time Van Jones spoke.

What I found was not controversial, not threatening, and definitely not reminiscent of Nazi Germany (Yes, a friend of mine did say that today).  Now, I’m the last person you’d expect to take up for B.O., but I just don’t see the harm.  It’s a speech that covers everything anyone in the school system has been taught since day 1; try hard, do right, and don’t drop out.  I’d feel the same way if anyone else was giving a speech with an identical transcript.  It’s just not that earthshatteringly important of a speech.

Having said that, this speech could be beneficial if the right people see it.  Many children look up to Barack, for reasons beyond my comprehension.  But for whatever reason, they do.  Hearing those same words that have been drilled into their heads since pre-k from him may be the extra push they need.  And while it’s not going to save America’s youth and slash the drop-out rate by a considerable amount, it’s certainly going to help more students than it will hurt.  So take it from this die-hard Conservative; don’t get to worked over this speech.  Sure it’ll take a few minutes out of the day, but it’s not like any classroom in this country works bell-to-bell.  And even if it does take class time, if it even helps one person to stay in school and get an education then it was worth it in my book.

Vote in Today’s Poll of the Day about the speech controversy by clicking here.

DISCLAIMER: As I said earlier, I don’t have children in the school system, so I’m sure parents look at this from a different perspective.  I certainly don’t think my opinion is the governing power.  If you see the situation from a different point of view, let me know below in the comments or send me an e-mail at theconservativejournal@gmail.com.

Thoughts From Around the Blogosphere: Reaction to Van Jones’s Resignation and Controversy

I haven’t done one of these in a while, but there so much fun so I’m about to start again.  For those that don’t know how this works, I google blogsearch “Van Jones” and take a random sampling of the results and clip out important bits, as well as throw in some of my favorite bloggers’ thoughts.  Here’s the blogosphere’s reaction to the resignation of former green jobs advisor, Van Jones:

DPGI- the aftermath

Just put Bush’s name in any of these stories – war, spending, personal associations, agenda, czars, “dictatorship” – and then, recall the panty-twisting furor of the Left from the past eight years. Kind of telling to see the sand in their crotch was Bush, not what Bush did because Obama is following Bush’s path in many ways.

Quipster

The special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality apparently believes that his past actions are being used as “lies and distortions,” and are not worthy of scrutiny for the special government position he enjoyed.

Citizens Against Pro-Obama Media Bias

They ranted on and on about the “birthers” and compared them to the “truthers” and lo and behold one of barry’s special advisors is a truther…to begin with.

The Transporter

Van Jones resigns as President Obamas green jobs czar. All I can think of to say is not soon enough, not soon enough. The president should check into the backgrounds of some people before he hires them to save the embarrassment.

Newsreal (I strongly recommend reading this article, it’s one of my favorites regarding Jones)

The point is not that President Obama will not tolerate people with Van Jones’ views to serve in his administration: he obviously will, because he did and he defended Jones to the bitter end. The point is Jones is becoming part of Obama’s increasingly familiar pattern: associate with radical leftists, give them as much power and prominence as possible in their own right, and disavow them only if they begin to hurt your ability to radicalize the system from within.

The Political Inquirer

One down a whole administration yet to go.

Citizen Obie

Van Jones made a mistake. Van Jones did and said some things I think he probably regrets. In fact, I know he does, because he said so. But where I see a mistake, Glenn Beck and the rightist bloggers who carried out this campaign saw an opportunity to tar and feather (and yes, that image is deliberate) the very symbol of the green jobs movement, and to characterize that movement, and by extension the presidency, as a communist cabal intent on imposing a reverse-racist tyranny on good Christian straight White Americans.

Betsy’s Page

How viciously sneaky of the right wing. They dared to use the man’s own words against him.

All American Blogger

I’m not saying I had anything to do with this, but I did write one heck of a blogosphere roundup on the matter.

California Conservative

Conservatives often joke that the Left’s definition of a dirty campaign is using their words against them. That seems to fit with Van Jones’ resignation letter.

The Lonely Conservative

Despite the fact that the MSM completely ignored the news of Van Jones’s past, the radical commie Green Jobs Czar has quit. And of course he’s blaming it on the folks who had the nerve to dig up his past. Not that it was hard.

Glenn Beck

The American people stood up and demanded answers. Instead of providing them, the Administration had Jones resign under cover of darkness. I continue to be amazed by the power of everyday Americans to initiate change in our government through honest questioning, and judging by the other radicals in the administration, I expect that questioning to continue for the foreseeable future.

Van Jones Resigns: A Display of the Power of Fox News

Wow, I think I truly am shocked about this.

I haven’t been following the Van Jones saga much lately because I’d seen what I needed to see:  the guy is crazy and he is (was) an advisor to the president.  If I’m being perfectly honest, I assumed that he was here to stay so I just tried to block out all of the controversies surrounding him during my daily dose of Glenn Beck so I wasn’t freaked out even further.

So when I got home from church today, I was surprised to find on the AOL home page that Van Jones had resigned as green jobs advisor amid all the controversy.  But again, rather than owning up to his past statements and claims, Jones simply said he needed to leave due to the “vicious smear campaign” against him.  Van.. Buddy.. It’s not a smear campaign when it’s true.  Admit responsibility for your actions and leave with a little bit of dignity.  Without a doubt Jones knew that he was fast becoming baggage for the administration and that he probably wouldn’t be able to make many green jobs when the vast majority of America is against him.  In fact, AOL’s poll (I know it’s not scientific, but they’re usually pretty close) has 91%  giving Jones resignation a “Thumbs Up” and only 9% a “Thumbs Down”.

Glenn Beck, pat yourself on the back for this one

The whole debacle would have never gotten anywhere without all the coverage Glenn Beck has devoted to Van Jones over the past few days.  He’s constantly been pounding viewers with video clips and quotes from Van Jones that serve as an illustration of his lunacity.  The message obviously resonated with viewers; “Van Jones” was a trending topic on Twitter at the start of the weekend and the blogosphere has been ripe with “Get Rid of Jones!” posts.  Once the rest of the right-media (Basically Fox News) caught on to the situation, Sean Hannity picked it up and then it was all over.  When you’ve got the second biggest radio personality and quite possibly the most controversial cable news host broadcasting concrete evidence of insanity, somethings got to change.  And that my friends, is change we can believe in.

Video of the Day: GASP! Maybe Al Franken Isn’t That Much of a Moron?

Alright, before everyone jumps on me and sends me scathing e-mails, hear me out and watch the video.  I don’t agree with Al Franken at all, and I still stand firm against this healthcare bill.  However, he does work well under pressure.  In the following video, Al is greeted by a group of protesters and he handles it wonderfully by shooting out facts, remaining calm, and just being honest.  In fact, he does the unthinkable by admitting our current path is unsustainable.  If all liberals/democrats handled protesters like this, maybe they’d get somewhere as far as increasing love for the reform bill.  Here’s the video:

Top 10 Dumbest Democrat Quotes Regarding Healthcare — Human Events

I just love Human Events.  Even though it feels my inbox with what seems like a billion messages every day, articles and lists like the one below make it totally worth it.  Below is a list of the top 10 dumbest quotes by democrats about healthcare.
  1. “I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking.  I want them just to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess.  I don’t mind cleaning up after them, but don’t do a lot of talking.” — President Obama at an August 6 at a rally in Virginia
  2. “They’re carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on health care.” — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an August 5 interview
  3. “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?” — Rep. John Conyers (Mich.) at the National Press Club, July 24
  4. “These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves.  Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.” — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (Md.), writing in USA Today, August 10
  5. “The last time I had to confront something like this was when I voted for the civil rights bill and my opponent voted against it. At that time, we had a lot of Ku Klux Klan folks and white supremacists and folks in white sheets and other things running around causing trouble.” — Rep. John Dingell (Mich.), on MSNBC
  6. “What we’re seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics.“ — Rep. Brian Baird, (Wash.) told a local newspaper
  7. “The last time I saw well-dressed people doing this, was when Al Gore asked me to go down to Florida when they were recounting the ballots, and I was confronted with the same type of people.” — Sen. Barbara Boxer (Calif.)
  8. “I hope people will take a jaundiced eye to what is clearly the Astroturf nature of so-called grassroots lobbying … The Astroturf nature of grassroots lobbying, which is largely the term for, you know, this is manufactured anger.” — White House spokesman Robert Gibbs
  9. “Republicans and their allied groups — desperate after losing two consecutive elections and every major policy fight on Capitol Hill — are inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right-wing extremists funded by K Street lobbyists to disrupt thoughtful discussions about the future of healthcare in America taking place in congressional districts across the country.” — Democratic National Committee communications director Brad Woodhouse
  10. “These are nothing more than destructive efforts to interrupt a debate that we should have, and are having.  They are doing this because they don’t have any better ideas … It’s really simple: They‘re taking their cues from talk-show hosts, Internet rumor-mongerers and insurance rackets.” — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.)
  11. “Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute.” — Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.), responding to a town hall participant

Michelle Obama Took Job Creation a Little Too Far

To vote in today’s poll regarding this issue, click here.

With the official U.S. unemployment rate approaching double digits (and that doesn’t even include those that have given up), we are clearly in need of job creation.  That does not, however, mean that Michelle Obama should take that responsibility into her own hands and hire a new fleet of staff members to improve our numbers.

Factcheck.org (They’re non-partisan, folks!) has confirmed that Madame Michelle employs 26 “attendants”, all making a pretty penny by her side.  Job titles range from her very own “Chief of Staff” at the top of the ladder, to the “Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady” at the bottom.  Lady Michelle even has her own personal make-up artist and hair dresser; two positions that haven’t been filled since the Bill Clinton’s days in the White House (BaDum Chhh).  Perhaps the most outrageous aspect of all of this is the salaries made by all of her employees; the “Chief of Staff” makes a cool $172,000 for her efforts.  I guess the number seems more outrageous when you take into account that Rahm Emanuel, the Chief of Staff to the PRESIDENT makes the exact same amount.  I would imagine his work hours are a wee bit longer.  And while not all salaries are that high (although, when you’re the “Assistant to the Assistant of the Director of Correspondence to the First Lady” I can’t imagine you’re workload is very heavy), only the bottom 6 positions are pulling in less than $50,000.  And when you get down that low, nearly every position is something secretarial (is that a word?).

I don’t mean to pick on only Michelle.   I mean, even Laura Bush had a hoard of  attendants.  She had 11 less, mind you, but even that’s a little high.  I guess Michelle thought she was worth $700,000-$800,000 more in upkeep?  Whatever the case, the increase in the already high number of servants roaming the White House to tend exclusively to the First Lady isn’t coming at the greatest time when some in Congress are trying to squeeze out upwards of 2 trillion dollars for the national healthcare movement.  You’d think they’d cut out some of assistants’ assistants, but then again, who thinks at all anymore?

Do you think 26 is a reasonable of attendants for the First Lady?  What useful things could we do with the nearly 2 million dollar payroll for these folks?  Leave your comments below or send an e-mail to theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Don’t forget to bookmark The Conservative Journal and sign up for the RSS Feed and the daily e-mail newsletter.

ColorOfChange.org Has Nothing To Do With It’s Time

I wasn’t blogging again when Glenn Beck called Obama a racist, so here’s my opinion in a sentence or two:

I don’t really agree with him, but I do know that he’s got a right to his opinion.  I do think though that Obama sees race and it influences his decisions.  So take with that what you will.

Anyway, after his comments there was, understandably, a considerable amount of outrage.  It gave MSNBC good ammunition for a couple of days, and with viewer numbers like theirs, God knows they needed it.  However, ColorOfChange.org took it a step further and decided they should start a petition to get advertisers to remove advertising from The Glenn Beck Program.  So far they’ve been successful in getting GEICO, Lawyers.com, Progressive Insurance, Procter & Gamble, and SC Johnson to drop they’re advertisements from the program.  Now, they’re definitely entitled to start they’re little petition, and obviously they had enough support to get it somewhere.  But how, might I ask, does this further the mission of the Color Of Change Organization?  That’s got me scratching my head.

If your not familiar with ColorOfChange.org, here’s a little bit about them in their words: “ColorOfChange.org is strengthening Black America’s political voice”.  So, by getting advertisers to pull out of Glenn Beck’s show, they are strengthening Black America’s voice?  How does this “make the government more responsive to the concerns of Black America’s”?  Answer:  It doesn’t.  This is just hate from the left to combat the opinions of the right.

I’m not sure what ColorOfChange.org was doing when Kanye West called George Bush a racist in 2005 (and even went as far as to say that he didn’t care about black people), but I find it hard to believe they were doing anything but nodding along.  I can remember laughing at my friends that were “boycotting Kanye West forvever!” because of his comments because, quite frankly, who cares?  If he thinks that, more power to him.  By the way, “Heartless” by Kanye West is one of my favorite rap/R&B songs ever EVEN THOUGH Kanye thinks Dubya is a crazy racist.

So, ColorOfChange.org, the next time you guys are bored and need a fun petition to start, do something productive that actually helps fulfill your “cause”.  Because I assure, Glenn Beck will find advertisers, no matter how many people you “convince” to drop his show.  He comes on at 5 and still has ya prime-time boy Olbermann beat in viewers.

What do you think of the petition?  What’s your opinion of ColorOfChange.org?  Leave your comments below or send an e-mail to theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Don’t forget to bookmark The Conservative Journal and sign up for the RSS Feed and the daily e-mail newsletter.
