Hey, Maybe If Students Hear it From Barack They’ll Listen?- A Conservative In Favor of Barack’s Speech

Barack to School!

Barack to School!

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been avoiding the issue of Barack’s big speech to school across the nation.  Why you ask?  Well, I’m not in school, nor do I have kids who are, so it really just isn’t high on my priorities.  Today, however, I did find time to read (skim) the transcript.  I mean, I had to; it is the most controversial speech since the last time Van Jones spoke.

What I found was not controversial, not threatening, and definitely not reminiscent of Nazi Germany (Yes, a friend of mine did say that today).  Now, I’m the last person you’d expect to take up for B.O., but I just don’t see the harm.  It’s a speech that covers everything anyone in the school system has been taught since day 1; try hard, do right, and don’t drop out.  I’d feel the same way if anyone else was giving a speech with an identical transcript.  It’s just not that earthshatteringly important of a speech.

Having said that, this speech could be beneficial if the right people see it.  Many children look up to Barack, for reasons beyond my comprehension.  But for whatever reason, they do.  Hearing those same words that have been drilled into their heads since pre-k from him may be the extra push they need.  And while it’s not going to save America’s youth and slash the drop-out rate by a considerable amount, it’s certainly going to help more students than it will hurt.  So take it from this die-hard Conservative; don’t get to worked over this speech.  Sure it’ll take a few minutes out of the day, but it’s not like any classroom in this country works bell-to-bell.  And even if it does take class time, if it even helps one person to stay in school and get an education then it was worth it in my book.

Vote in Today’s Poll of the Day about the speech controversy by clicking here.

DISCLAIMER: As I said earlier, I don’t have children in the school system, so I’m sure parents look at this from a different perspective.  I certainly don’t think my opinion is the governing power.  If you see the situation from a different point of view, let me know below in the comments or send me an e-mail at theconservativejournal@gmail.com.

Thanks Everyone!

Today, The Conservative Journal passed a page view milestone; 100,000 since it all began last October.  I wanted to thank everyone that has stopped by to read and comment.  You are the reason this blog went from being updated once a week to several times a day as it is now.  Without you, I don’t know what I’d do with my free time!  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know many bloggers on the interweb and finding many interesting and entertaining blogs in the process.

Thanks again!

Goodbye Arlen.

I know this is “No Politics Tuesday”, but it would just be disrespectful to ole Arlen to not bid him farewell.

Dear Arlen,

Don’t feel bad for switching over to the dark side.  We have no use for you here.  I’d much rather you be happy with the Dems and vote for pork and such than be infuriating us here on the right.  Next time a stimulus comes up for a vote (it’s about time for a new, don’t you think?), you can guiltlessly vote away!  We will not miss you any more than you will miss us.  Hope the weather’s nice on the left!

Thanks again for leaving,

Rick

P.S. While you’re packing up your cubicle at the Republican Headquarters, could you please encourage Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe to follow you out the door?  That’d be great.

What do you think about Arlen shipping out?  Leave your comments below or e-mail us at theconservativejournal@gmail.com

Video of the Day: National Organization for Marriage Video

If you’ve somehow missed the NOM Ad against same-sex marriage, you’ve got to watch it below.  As a Christian Conservative, I define marriage as between a man and a woman.  However, this ad is ridiculous.  I consider myself to be quite conservative, but in no way do I think a storm is going to suck me up if same-sex marriage becomes legal throughout the country (alright, I know that’s not what they’re saying, but it’s close.).  A lot of the lines leave me puzzled, so watch it for yourself and let everyone know what you think!

Poll of the Day: Do You Think Barack Acted Appropriately During the Pirate Situation?

As I said in a post earlier, I think Barack got the job done appropriately and quickly.  I even went so far as to give him the prestigious “Conservative Journal Seal of Approval” honor!  Big deal, I know.  But what do you think?  Vote in today’s poll to see where you stand in comparison to the rest of Conservative Journal readers.

Who Arey They Kidding? Of Course He Bowed!

Does that look like a hand shake to you?

Does that look like a hand shake to you?

Barry O. continued his streak of international missteps last week when he bowed to Saudi Arabian King Abdullah.  Apparently, some one forgot to brief Barack before his trip and tell him that is off limits.  Well, if you watch the video of the bow (You can watch it here if you missed it.) you can see that it is CLEARLY a bow, or as IMAO put it, a “curtsy”.  Honestly, I don’t have a huge problem with the fact that he bowed.  Now, do I think he should have bowed?  Heavens no.  But the people that are saying his bow was “submission to Islam” (yes I read that on a blog) are crazy.  The reason behind the bow is simple: Barack doesn’t know what to do.  He’s confused, and the “fresh”, “new”, “young”, “changed”, “hip” staff that is supposed to be instructing him is even more clueless.  Someone needs to show them all the ropes before the next overseas trip.

Anyway, anyone that has seen the video should clearly see that he bowed.  However, some people that are drinking the strongest of all the kool-aids don’t believe that is the case.  This weekend I watched a woman on a Fox News show watch the video and tell the conservatives in the room they were insane because they thought he bowed.  Look woman, I don’t what video you’re watching, but he DEFINITELY bowed.  And on top of that Gibbs had the audicity to say that it wasn’t a bow and there was no need to talk about it.  I think what these people in denial don’t understand is that this could be much less of a big deal if they would admit the truth.  They are going to have a much easier time convincing Americans that he bowed because he didn’t know proper protocol rather than he didn’t bow at all.  Because he bowed.  There should be no debate over that.  At all.

Ultimately, Barack will learn what he is supposed to do in different conditions.  Until then, we get these kind of gaffes that we can all sit back and watch people over react to.  Barack’s bow was an empty bow.  It meant nothing, he simply thought that was what he was supposed to do.  If I am wrong, however, we have something to worry about.

What do you think of the bow?  Are you as convinced as I am that he definitely bowed?  Leave your comments below or send us an e-mail at theconservativejournal@gmail.com.

Poll of the Day: What Do You Think of the Obama Chia Pet?

People in this country sit on pins and needles looking for something offensive.  Well, they’ve finally found the next thing to attack: The Barack Obama chia pet.  Many people are expressing outrage over the chia pet, calling it racist and distasteful.  Vote in today’s people to see how many readers of The Conservative Journal are just itching to get offended!

The Tale of the Chia Pet

Shame on the scum that made this. Shame, shame, shame.

Shame on the scum that made this. Shame, shame, shame.

Chia pets were first introduced in 1982, and grew to become very popular collectors items during the 80s.   However, the chia pet has become a joke, landing at the top of the ‘Top 10 Worst Gifts” list several times over the past decade.

Why am I telling you this?  Well, the harmless, grass covered chia pet is at the center of what one blogger called “the biggest scandal of the Obama presidency”.  That’s right folks.  Chia pets’ mothership, Joseph Enterprises, dared to introduce the controversial, racially charged OBAMA CHIA PET.  Or at least, that’s what Walgreens and select few morons are saying.

For those that haven’t heard, the horrible Obama chia pet was released to Walgreens and was nearly immediately pulled from shelves because some viewed the chia as ‘racist’.  They cited the fact that no other president was given a chia pet, so what made them start with Obama?  Well,  here’s a proposal:  B.O. is possibly the single most hyped person in the world.  Everyone is talking about him, whether good or bad.  So naturally, Joseph Enterprises wanted to cash in on Barack’s celebrity power and save their dying chia pet brand.  Is that really so scandalous?

In all actuality, I think the people calling the pet racist are the ones that are racist.  I never in a million years would have looked at a Barack chia pet and thought “Wow, how racist is that?”.  It honestly even took me a minute to find out the ‘racism’ in it after it was pointed out.  Apparently the grass/weed (whatever it is) hair is racist?  Also, would this chia pet still had been racist if every president had a chia in their likeness?  The “racist” hair would still be present, so would everyone causing a stirr over this be doing this same in that situation?  False.  If they left Barack out of the chia line while every other president got one, then it would be racist again.  It’s really just a lose-lose for the chia pet.  And that’s a real shame.
What do you think about the chia pet conspiracy?  Did you notice the alleged racism at first glance?  Leave your comments below or e-mail us at theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Also, check back in and look for a poll on this subject.  Thanks for reading!
