Thoughts From Around the Blogosphere: Reaction to Van Jones’s Resignation and Controversy

I haven’t done one of these in a while, but there so much fun so I’m about to start again.  For those that don’t know how this works, I google blogsearch “Van Jones” and take a random sampling of the results and clip out important bits, as well as throw in some of my favorite bloggers’ thoughts.  Here’s the blogosphere’s reaction to the resignation of former green jobs advisor, Van Jones:

DPGI- the aftermath

Just put Bush’s name in any of these stories – war, spending, personal associations, agenda, czars, “dictatorship” – and then, recall the panty-twisting furor of the Left from the past eight years. Kind of telling to see the sand in their crotch was Bush, not what Bush did because Obama is following Bush’s path in many ways.

Quipster

The special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality apparently believes that his past actions are being used as “lies and distortions,” and are not worthy of scrutiny for the special government position he enjoyed.

Citizens Against Pro-Obama Media Bias

They ranted on and on about the “birthers” and compared them to the “truthers” and lo and behold one of barry’s special advisors is a truther…to begin with.

The Transporter

Van Jones resigns as President Obamas green jobs czar. All I can think of to say is not soon enough, not soon enough. The president should check into the backgrounds of some people before he hires them to save the embarrassment.

Newsreal (I strongly recommend reading this article, it’s one of my favorites regarding Jones)

The point is not that President Obama will not tolerate people with Van Jones’ views to serve in his administration: he obviously will, because he did and he defended Jones to the bitter end. The point is Jones is becoming part of Obama’s increasingly familiar pattern: associate with radical leftists, give them as much power and prominence as possible in their own right, and disavow them only if they begin to hurt your ability to radicalize the system from within.

The Political Inquirer

One down a whole administration yet to go.

Citizen Obie

Van Jones made a mistake. Van Jones did and said some things I think he probably regrets. In fact, I know he does, because he said so. But where I see a mistake, Glenn Beck and the rightist bloggers who carried out this campaign saw an opportunity to tar and feather (and yes, that image is deliberate) the very symbol of the green jobs movement, and to characterize that movement, and by extension the presidency, as a communist cabal intent on imposing a reverse-racist tyranny on good Christian straight White Americans.

Betsy’s Page

How viciously sneaky of the right wing. They dared to use the man’s own words against him.

All American Blogger

I’m not saying I had anything to do with this, but I did write one heck of a blogosphere roundup on the matter.

California Conservative

Conservatives often joke that the Left’s definition of a dirty campaign is using their words against them. That seems to fit with Van Jones’ resignation letter.

The Lonely Conservative

Despite the fact that the MSM completely ignored the news of Van Jones’s past, the radical commie Green Jobs Czar has quit. And of course he’s blaming it on the folks who had the nerve to dig up his past. Not that it was hard.

Glenn Beck

The American people stood up and demanded answers. Instead of providing them, the Administration had Jones resign under cover of darkness. I continue to be amazed by the power of everyday Americans to initiate change in our government through honest questioning, and judging by the other radicals in the administration, I expect that questioning to continue for the foreseeable future.

Van Jones Resigns: A Display of the Power of Fox News

Wow, I think I truly am shocked about this.

I haven’t been following the Van Jones saga much lately because I’d seen what I needed to see:  the guy is crazy and he is (was) an advisor to the president.  If I’m being perfectly honest, I assumed that he was here to stay so I just tried to block out all of the controversies surrounding him during my daily dose of Glenn Beck so I wasn’t freaked out even further.

So when I got home from church today, I was surprised to find on the AOL home page that Van Jones had resigned as green jobs advisor amid all the controversy.  But again, rather than owning up to his past statements and claims, Jones simply said he needed to leave due to the “vicious smear campaign” against him.  Van.. Buddy.. It’s not a smear campaign when it’s true.  Admit responsibility for your actions and leave with a little bit of dignity.  Without a doubt Jones knew that he was fast becoming baggage for the administration and that he probably wouldn’t be able to make many green jobs when the vast majority of America is against him.  In fact, AOL’s poll (I know it’s not scientific, but they’re usually pretty close) has 91%  giving Jones resignation a “Thumbs Up” and only 9% a “Thumbs Down”.

Glenn Beck, pat yourself on the back for this one

The whole debacle would have never gotten anywhere without all the coverage Glenn Beck has devoted to Van Jones over the past few days.  He’s constantly been pounding viewers with video clips and quotes from Van Jones that serve as an illustration of his lunacity.  The message obviously resonated with viewers; “Van Jones” was a trending topic on Twitter at the start of the weekend and the blogosphere has been ripe with “Get Rid of Jones!” posts.  Once the rest of the right-media (Basically Fox News) caught on to the situation, Sean Hannity picked it up and then it was all over.  When you’ve got the second biggest radio personality and quite possibly the most controversial cable news host broadcasting concrete evidence of insanity, somethings got to change.  And that my friends, is change we can believe in.

Poll of the Day: What Is Your Opinion of Al Franken?

Before watching this video, I dismissed Al Franken as a complete joke.  And though I still don’t agree with anything he has to say, I think I may have underestimated him as far as his competence.  If you missed the video, click the above link and then vote below in the Poll of the Day!

Video of the Day: GASP! Maybe Al Franken Isn’t That Much of a Moron?

Alright, before everyone jumps on me and sends me scathing e-mails, hear me out and watch the video.  I don’t agree with Al Franken at all, and I still stand firm against this healthcare bill.  However, he does work well under pressure.  In the following video, Al is greeted by a group of protesters and he handles it wonderfully by shooting out facts, remaining calm, and just being honest.  In fact, he does the unthinkable by admitting our current path is unsustainable.  If all liberals/democrats handled protesters like this, maybe they’d get somewhere as far as increasing love for the reform bill.  Here’s the video:

What do you think of Al’s response?  Leave your comments below or send an e-mail to theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Don’t forget to bookmark The Conservative Journal and sign up for the RSS Feed and the daily e-mail newsletter.

The Conservative Republican Standard: Check This Out!

Featured Blog Winners!

The blogging tool that I can’t quit talking, Alpha Inventions, is not only good for boosting your readership.  It can also introduce you to a plethora (Word of the Day) of blogs organized by subject matter.  So when I was submitting my site to the cycle earlier, I decided to take some time to flip through the blogs.  One blog I discovered is The Conservative Republican Standard written by Jerry Hosey.

According to Jerry’s “About” page, he’s currently in college getting his degree in Political Science degree at Florida State University.  The blog, though mostly about conservative politics (WOO!), covers a variety of topics.  Jerry runs several blog mini-series ranging from “The Congressional File” and “Flashback” (Similar to “This Day in History” on TCJ) to series about FSU sports and news.  The Conservative Republican Standard is updated often, so you can usually expect to go back and find something new.  I definitely recommend you “Check This Out!”

Charlie Rangel Can’t Read His Own Writing

See the resemblence to Dracula??

See the resemblence to Dracula??

Charlie Rangel can’t seem to understand the tax code, which is excusable because most liberals can’t.  However, there’s one catch.  Charlie Rangel is in charge of the committee that writes the tax code.  You would think someone that spends his time writing and editing our million page tax code would have a pretty good handle on what is good and what is illegal, but of course that makes too much sense.  Instead, the spitting image of Dracula seems to think that rental property income is tax-exempt and the price of other properties flunctuates with the mood he’s in.  Well, it doesn’t seem to work that way for the rest of us.  Here are the details on Charlie’s latest little tax dilema:

Most know of Charlie’s tax dodging ways when it came to his rental property in the Dominican Republic.  He was just slightly confused with the fine print that he wrote, and thought that his out-of-country property was there tax-free.  Since he’s a liberal, he got a slight slap on the wrist from Queen of Congress, Nancy Pelosi, and was told he could pay up if he felt so inclined.  But apparently he didn’t learn then (In his defense, I don’t know why he’d learn a lesson.  He didn’t get in trouble.), and now is cheating his own rules once again.  The latest little omition from his taxes was a house that he sold in Washington, in addition to a home that changed value three times over a few year span; going from $50,000 to $100,000, then even as high as $5oo,000.  Of course Charlie sites the changes and omition as simple mistakes that could happen to anyone.  Well he is right about that; however, if anyone else had made these so-called “mistakes” they’d be sitting in the tax-evasion dungeon underneath Charlie’s office.  How ironic.

Bottom Line

Charlie’s got to go.  And all the other tax cheats, evaders, and the loophole posse can follow him on his walk of shame.  I consider myself a forgiving person, but come on.  Whose anyone kidding that Count Rangula (Had to) wasn’t fully aware of his alleged “mistake”?  No one with a half a brain buys that bull crap.  We have got to start extending the same punishments to those with power that we common folk are faced with.  We don’t get fifty million chances to get it right; they actually expect us to *GASP* obey the law.  Something needs to be immediately done with Rangel, Geithner, and the rest of the tax-evasion crew.  How about they pay back what they owe, inluding penalties?  That’s a start.

What do you think about the tax-evaders running amok in our government?  I know, let’s all just make “mistakes” on our taxes and see if we just get a warning.  How does that sound?  Leave your comments on this below or e-mail us at theconservativejournal@gmail.com.

Poll of the Day Results

Although the results are in, the polls aren’t closed; you can click on the title of the poll and cast your late ballot!

March 14th- Are You Liberal or Conservative?

  • This could be the most obvious poll that will ever be on the site, but here are the results:  77% of readers of The Conservative Journal are more conservative, while 23% identify more with liberal viewpoints.  To those 23% in the minority:  I’m glad you here!  Rally some more of liberal friends so we get some comment debates going!  Seriously though, thank you to all that voted and read The Conservative Journal!

March 15th- Whose Side of the Fued Are You On?

  • This results of this poll are a lot closer than I expected:  When asked whose side Conservative Journal readers were (Either Jim Cramer or Jon Stewart) on in their little feud, 53% sided with Jon Stewart, and 39% sided with Jim Cramer; with the remaining  8% having no opinion.  I voted for Jim Cramer because I think his show is funnier, but I wasn’t expecting many to vote for him.  Guess everyone agrees?

March 16th- Internet problems prevented a poll on this day.

March 17th- What Do You Think About Laura Ingraham’s Comments?

  • In this poll, 63% thought that Laura Ingraham crossed the line with her “plus-sized model” comment to Meghan McCain, 23% think America needs to lighten up, and the remaining 14% don’t care about either one of them enough to form an opinion.  Once again, on this one I went with Laura Ingraham crossing the line initially, though after hearing the full context of the comments I don’t think they were that bad.

March 18th- What Are Your Views on Abortion?

  • On this random issue, the vote was almost split exactly as the “Liberal or Conservative?” poll, with 74% siding with the more conservative “Pro-life” option, and the remaining 26% going with the generally liberal choice of “Pro-choice”.  Of course, I went “Pro-life” on this one.

March 19th- Do You Support Gay Marriage?

  • Looks like our readers are a little more moderate on this one:  61% voted against gay marriage, with the remaining 39% voting in favor of gay marriage.  Of course, I voted against.

March 20th- What Do You Think of Barack’s Special Olympics Comments?

  • We posted this before news of his apology, and 74% of those polled said that B.O. needed to apologize for his remarks, with the remaining 26% thinking that America needs to lighten up and laugh.  While I did vote that B.O. needed to apologize (glad he did do that), I generally side with America needing to lighten up.  For someone that campaigned on a platform of hope, change, and equality this was a low blow.

Barack Obama Reads This Blog

That’s right.  I know he does because just hours after I called for his apology regarding the ‘Special Olympics’ comment on Jay Leno, he did.  How do I know he read it here, you ask?  Well, because I can tell, that’s why.  Alright, so regardless of whether or not he read it here, B.O. did apologize for his remarks.  He called chairman of the Special Olympics, Tim Shriver,  to express his apologies and then went on to say some of the competitors were more than welcome to visit the White House for bowling or basketball.  Well that was nice B.O., and to think I doubted you.  Well now that I know you read this blog I have some more advice for you:  fire turbe-tax Geithner, fire Nancy Pelosi, fire all of congress, stop being a socialist, and quit spending all the money you can get your hands on.  Now get to work, that’s only the beginning!

What do you think about his apologies?  What other famous people do you think read this blog?  Leave your comments below or send us and e-mail at theconservativejournal@gmail.com!

WikiGate: Who Did It?!

Barack taking a peak outisde of WikiWorld

Barack taking a peak outisde of WikiWorld

Ahh, Wikipedia.  The source of knowledge for the common man.  A place where all walks of life can gather to read information with no factual backing whatsoever.  But it’s ok because everyone uses it, so we’re all wrong together.  UNTIL NOW.  Apparently, someone close to Big O (or perhaps O himself) realized that Wikipedia is not in fact a real encyclopedia, but rather users edit and submit content to the site.   And as they were browsing Barack’s page to see if he truly is a U.S. citizen, they discovered something blasphemous: a scandalous entry hidden in the section regarding Barack’s “Personal Life”.  Under the heading, three paragraphs down was the defamatory sentence:

Barack Obama attended Trinity United Chruch of Christ, led by the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

Gadzooks!  However shocking that may be to you, the sentence that follows is even more shocking:

Some right-wing fringe groups even believe that Mr. Obama was associated with esteemed professor, William Ayers.

The fact the author of that Wikipedia post called Ayers “esteemed” and claimed only “fringe groups” believed that aside, can you believe someone had the nerve to post these truthful degrading statements about the messiah??  Didn’t they get the memo that the teflon-pan-man is not allowed to have anything negative about him in the public eye??  Well, never fear America, some unknown saint swooped in and saved the day by deleted both of the slanderous statements, leaving Hussein’s Wikipedia without a single blemish.  But who, America, could it have been that saved the country from iminent demise by replacing the buffet of truth with a big ole glass of the Kool-Aid?  That is why I’m here, to divulge into the bowels (hehe) of the internet and find the great and mighty one; the one that picked the sliver peice of burnt cheese off of the pristine cookware; the one that pressure washed the turd off of the brick patio;  the one that saved the day.

The Suspects

We entered the bowels of the internet and have made our way into the small intestine.  Our team of researchers has uncovered clues that have provided us with evidence pointing to 5 suspects at this point.  Some are expected, some are virtual unknowns.  In the end, only one will be named the conspiratory of WikiGate.

Every night, sometime between the hourse of 6 and 9 PM Central Standard Time, one suspect will be released.  You will be given all the details on the suspect.  Once you have been presented the evidence, a special poll will be held to see who America thinks is the mastermind of WikiGate, which I would call the biggest scandal of all time.

Hope everyone is ready, it’s going to ground-breaking.

Thanks for reading!
