September 18th News Bits and Pieces: Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Carrie Prejean, and Republicans

News and Politics

Democrats run away from embattled ACORN

Aside from the fact that the article I linked to is a grossly biased look at the issue by MSNBC (slight exaggeration), this is refreshing news for me to read/hear.  It’s no surprise that Republicans in Congress were able to band together and vote for banning ACORN funding, but the fact that any Democrats are jumping on board is a great sign that we’re getting somewhere.

CNN Responds to Fox Ads: “You Lie!”

I’m afraid that I’m going to have to take CNN’s side on this.  Write it down, because this is probably the first and the last time.  While I do agree with Fox that they gave the best and most indepth coverage of the 9/12 Rally, CNN did show up for some coverage.  And while I don’t agree with Sanchez (CNN) that it was “extensive coverage”, it was some and therefore CNN did not deserve to be mentioned in the Fox News ad that listed all of the networks that ignored the story.

Ex-Miss California Carrie Prejean says she’s not a ‘hater’ at Values Summit

For those that were following me during the start of the Carrie Prejean saga, you’d know that I’m on her side.  I really am.  But I think she maayyy be milking the beauty pageant events a little too much.  I think she definitely deserved her attention for that right after it happened, but it’s been many months.  I think Carrie would make a great news anchor, tv personality, etc., but I’d like for her to do it on her own right and not because of a scandal caused by a lowlife scum.

Dow nears one-year highs

WOO THE RECESSIONS OVER!  EVERYONE GO BUY A NEW BMW!  Alright, not quite.  I have my doubts that the recession is truly over, especially since job less is expected to continue.  I think what we may see is a “double-dip” recession; meaning it’s going to look like it’s getting better (now), but then drop back off again slightly before getting fully better.  I do think the worst is over, and I’d love to proven wrong on my “double-dip” theory.  After all, it is just a theory.

Entertainment

Was Kanye-Gate Staged?  Experts Say No.

Why do people write pointless articles about stuff we already know?  AOL really just wrote this article to reaffirm common and accepted fact that this event was not staged?  Someone needs a new creativity team.

Taylor Swift Gets A Few Questions Too Many About Kanye West VMA Interruption

Like the rest of us, even Taylor Swift is tired of hearing about herself and Kanye.  In an interview today, she asked the interviewer to move on from the Kanye subject because she didn’t “want to make it a bigger deal than it is”.  When the interviewer continued talking about it, she quit doing the interview.  I’m liking Taylor Swift more and more by the day.  She’s starting to grow up and stand up for herself, whereas before she’s always come across as so week and feeble.  Good for her!

Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead: The House Has Voted to Defund ACORN

I’ve never been so frustrated.  I just wrote an entire post about the vote by the House to defund ACORN and the when I clicked “post” it erased everything and posted a blank article.  I have a killer headache, so I’m not about to retype all of that, so I’m going to have to break my number 1 rule and….. **shutter** just post a link.  I can’t believe this is happening.  Don’t disown me readers, it will never happen again.

http://biggovernment.com/2009/09/17/breaking-house-votes-to-cut-all-funds-to-acorn/

If your representative is one of the 75 clueless congressmen and women that voted NOT to defund ACORN, please give their office a call.  If they haven’t seen the light yet, it’s going to take some serious discussions.

September 16th News Bits and Pieces: Barack Obama, Joe Wilson, Kanye West, and a Dog

Bits and Pieces is the updated version of “News Roundup”.  You can expect Bits and Pieces to appear on the site around 9:30 PM CST nightly.  I’m not rehashing the news; I’ve always been clear that’s not why I’m here.  The post will, however, contain the political and entertainment news from the day that I didn’t get to mention earlier, with my two cents on the story underneath the link.  So much opinion, so little time.

Politics

Bush on Obama: “This guy has no clue”

All I can say is the ex-Bush speech writer who’s writing the book should probably watch his back.  He’s doing a great job building hype for the release with all these explosive quotes, but as of now I question their validity.  If Bush did say this, I’ll think more of him because I’ll know he was sharper than we gave him credit for.

White House rejects racism claim

Barack and rollllll.  By that, I mean he’s on a roll by doing things that don’t aggravate me for two consecutive days.  This is refreshing to know that Barack doesn’t really think America is a nation of hateful, white, racist, hillbillies like the rest of the left.  Whether or not he was doing it to appease the right is still in question, but I don’t really care either way.  The fact that he said it the day after Jimmy Carter said it was all racism makes me smile.  Can you say reeeeejected?

(The) Obama Calls Kanye West a ‘Jackass’

This is the second time this week the Barack has done something that kind of made me happy.  That beats the previous record by 2.  I don’t use or condone profanity, but I’m not going to lie, I’m glad the B.O. did this.  And not because it shows he’s human, but because it shows he’s willing to (finally) be honest about something and speak his mind on someone that idolized him during the campaign.  It’s a great step in showing America that we don’t always have to be so politically correct.  If Barack wants to go for a trifecta of pleasing me, he can openly tell Terry Moran that it’s okay he leaked the story.  I’m sure Terry’s home network (ABC) is chomping at the bit to let him go.

Joe Wilson Says “You Lie” to B.O. during Health Address

I’ve avoided all comment on this since the night of the speech because I just thought it would be over after Joe apologized and Barack accepted.  Of course, it wasn’t that easy.  Joe apologized the night it happened, and Barack said it was okay promptly after.  That was one week ago.  Why on earth are we still talking about it?  It’s amazing how we can demand a congressional hearing over two words, but it’s taken years to get them to do anything about ACORN.

Entertainment

Kenny Chesney Says His Touring Days Are Over (For Now)

Fiiiiiiinallly.  Kenny Chesney has been touring for about 100 years now and it’s just about time he takes a break.  Honestly, I think he’s vastly overrated anyway.  He wins Entertainer of the Year every year at the award shows (though the wonderful Carrie Underwood dethroned him at the ACMs) and it’s just high time someone else was even considered at the other shows.

Kanye West interrupts Taylor Swift at the VMAs

Kanye West, you are dirt to me.  I don’t even like Taylor Swift, but I feel terrible for her because you totally ruined her big moment.  This whole incident has made me like Taylor a little more because I think she’s grown up since I last developed my opinion of her.  She’s handled everything very well over this past week.

Jessica Simpson loses her little dog

Remind me why this is news?  Thousands of people lose their animals every day and I don’t hear about then.  Why should I care more that it happened to J-Simp?  To everyone that’s lost a pet recently: I’m very sorry for your loss.

Glenn Beck: “We have to refound America!”- His Solution to Fix the Decline of Our Government

To read the update on the “Refound America” project, click here.

A few short minutes ago, Glenn Beck let us all know what he thinks is necessary to save America: refound it.  Using theswine flu impact graphic, Glenn showed us that corruption starts in Washington and spreads with every move the government makes.  When Congress signs over stimulus money, the corruption leaks down to the pet projects and the congressmen and women presiding over them.  From their, corruption gets into the system at the local level, and that’s where we are today: extremely and overwhelmingly corrupt.  To fix it, Glenn says we have to “quarantine corruption in Washington”, by not allowing anything in or out, and imposing a hold on all legislation until we sort through this.

After comparing our future to present-day Mexico, Glenn said we simply need 56 “refounders”; Congressmen and women that will start with their own party and work through the muck of corruption.  Not Republicans that say “Oh, the Democrats are worse”, or Democrats that say “The Republicans are wingnuts”, but American Patriots.

The refounding plan will be detailed more on the Monday “Glenn Beck Program” episode, including how Congressmen and women can jump on the refouding bandwagon.  I’ll have more details as they become available.

What do you think of Glenn’s efforts to refound our nation?  Leave your comments below or send an e-mail to theconservativejournal@gmail.com.  Don’t forget to bookmark The Conservative Journal and sign up for the RSS Feed and the daily e-mail newsletter.

The ACORN Prostitute Scandal: It’s Our Responsibility to Inform the Public, How To Be The Difference

America,

It’s all of our responsibilities, whether conservative, liberal, independent, moderate, clueless, etc., to do what is right for our great nation.  Our founding fathers worked hard to create the America we are blessed to have today, and I honestly think they are rolling in their graves at the corruption and fraud that exists in our government.  ACORN’s been caught advising a prostitute on how to evade her taxes and keep her operation a secret, and billions of dollars are thrown away daily on worthless pet projects throughout the country and we’ve got to do something about it.  The mainstream media, including major news networks CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, etc., have not mentioned a word of the ACORN scandal.  They’ve had since 9 AM this morning to issue a statement, roll it across the news ticker, or anything at all to anounce to their viewers what is going on with our tax dollars and they have yet to do so.  Just to be clear: The major networks, with the exception to Fox News, have not reported ONE WORD on the ACORN scandal.

As citizens who love our country and don’t want to see our tax dollars funneled into corrupt organizations, we’ve got to STAND UP.  Don’t just watch from your chair and say “Well man, that’s unfortunate”.  If 99% of the media as a whole won’t put the pressure on our government, Democrats and Republicans alike, we’ve got to do it ourselves.  Don’t think you can’t make a difference.  If we all stand up against this, we won’t just make a difference, we’ll be the difference.

How to be the Difference:

  • Tell everyone you know of the ACORN story.  If you don’t want to come straight out and say “There’s a video of ACORN telling a prostitute how to cheat her taxes”, simply ask “Have you heard about ACORN” and go with it.  Totally painless, and extremely powerful.  Nothing travels faster than word of mouth.
  • Use Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc., to your advantage.  Twitter statuses are perfect to get the word out.  Currently, “ACORN” is barely in the top 10 subjects most mentioned in Twitter updates according to Trending Topics.  Clearly, the country does yet know.  Relay the message to everyone to tweet the story over Twitter.  If enough do it, the message will get out.  You should put a link to an article on the issue in your update, simply copy and paste one of the articles below into your Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter status.  Here are some you can use:
  • E-mail the story to everyone.  Leave it in comments on blog posts about relevant topics with one of the above links.
  • If you have a blog, by all means write about this issue.  Even a blog with two faithful readers will influence those two to stand up.  If your a member of any forums at all, find where this story will fit in and post a link to one of the above articles.
  • Send this article to everyone so they’ll know what do.  It’s not about how many readers I can get through this.  It’s for the good of America and our future.  If the only thing that happens because of this is the termination of the two employees, then no one will have learned anything and it will surely happen again.  If for some reason your anti The Conservative Journal, I don’t care if you copy and paste this and post it on your blog or e-mail it to a friend.  I’d love to get credit for it, but If you will only post or send this if I don’t get any it’s worth the loss.

Please do this for the good of America.  I’m making a commitment to do all that I can to get this story out.  I’m going to keep drilling this to you and other readers of this blog daily.  It’s necessary that this story gets out if we want any of it to get better.  Let your voice be heard and be the difference.

DUmmies Exposed: Let’s Kill Babies to Cut Costs!

Yes, there are some people in this country that sincerely think the government should fund abortions to cut national healthcare spending.  Here is a direct quote from the original poster of a thread titled “It makes no sense for any health plan to not pay 100% of the cost of an abortion” (found here) at Democratic Underground:

If a child is born to a subscriber of a plan the child is going to cost the plan money, providing for abortions saves a health plan (government, private or hybrid) costs.

Though some on the forum did express their disagreement with this sentiment, there were plenty of people that “completely agreed”.  How people even think this way is beyond me.  Human life comes before cutting a few thousand dollars off the government budget.  Better yet, why not just bypass the trillions of dollars of extra debt and not have govnerment run healthcare.  That eliminates the problem of having to kill off a few babies to have money leftover to buy the Obama kids another playground.

What do you think of this bright star on the moral horizon?

Pointless Post of the Day: The Dionne Quintuplets

The Dionne Quintuplets were the first set of quintuplets to survivce past infancy.  They are also the only set ever recorded that consists of all indentical females.

When the Dionne Quintuplets were born 75 years ago, the mother of the children didn’t know she was expecting more than one child.  The babies were all delivered at home, 2 months premature, by Dr. Allan Dafoe.  Dr. Dafoe did not expect the babies or the mother to live much longer after the birth.  The mother had gone into shock, but did recover the next day.  The babies were under constant care and because of it, they all survived.

Four months after the birth, the government Ontario took the children from the parents because it felt they were unfit to care for 10 children, as the Dionne’s had 5 kids prior to the quintuplets.  Under their new government care, a nursery was built for their enjoyment.  The government of Ontario realized that there was much interest in the children, so they decided to make a profit.  It’s estimated that over 3 million poeple paid to visit the Dionne children in their nursery from 1936 to 1943.  The children also starred in four films; The Country Doctor, Reunion, Five of a Kind, and Quinupland.
